JEE Main 2020

JEE Main 2020 will be conducted by National Testing Agency (NTA). It is the gateway for admission in various engineering courses offered by NITs, IIITs and CFTIs. Moreover, JEE Main is a preliminary exam for JEE Advanced 2020. After successfully qualifying the JEE Main, you can further appear in JEE Advanced 2020 to secure admission in prestigious Indian Institute of Technology (IITs). Top 2,45,000 qualifiers of the JEE Main will be eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. Since 2018, JEE Main is conducted twice, once in the month of January and April. It is structured in the form of two papers – Paper 1 is for B.E & B.Tech and Paper 2 is for B. Arch & B. Planning.

JEE Main 2020 Latest Changes: Stay Up-to-Date

  1. There will be a reservation of 10% to Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and institutions accepting JEE score need to reserve the seats for the same.
  2. You can appear in either one or both the sessions to increase your qualifying chances . If you choose to appear in both the examination (January and April), then the better of the two scores will be considered for merit list and cut-off.
  3. Candidates registering for January session need not to re-register for April session. You can directly apply by means of your Application Number and Password. The credentials will remain the same as selected for January session.
  4. NTA has adopted to normalize the scores of the applicants appearing in multiple shifts with changing difficulty level of question paper. It is to ensure a fair evaluation of  your JEE Main scores. Other than this there are no major changes made by NTA in terms of exam pattern, syllabus and seat allocation procedure.
Fact: Prior to JEE Main 2019, the exam was conducted by CBSE. From 2019 onwards National testing Agency (NTA) has taken over as the conducting body of the exam.

JEE Main 2020 Application Form

NTA will be releasing JEE Main 2020 Application Form 2020 in the first week of September 2019, following the last year’s schedule. Students need to fill the application forms in order to submit their candidature for the JEE Main 2020 examination. You will be getting around one month’s time to fill the application form and submit it online.
Official website to complete the registration will be jeemain[dot]nic[dot]in. You need to provide your personal and educational details while filling the application form. Other mandatory information that you need to fill in correctly is your address, phone number, choice of language, choice of paper and exam center city. Aadhaar card is not mandatory to apply; however, you must submit a valid government issued identity card including the ration card, driving license, passport etc. You also need to upload your scanned passport size photograph and signature in specified size and format. After submission of the documents, application fee has to be paid. It is a mandatory step to complete the application process. For SC/ST/ PwD/ Transgender/Female candidates the online mode application fee is INR 250 and for other candidates it is INR 500. Application fee is non-refundable. Once the application fee has been paid, next step will be the slot booking for the computer based test and printing of acknowledgement page.

JEE Main 2020 Application Fee

Aspirants can submit the application fee using Credit / Debit card / Net Banking / Paytm / Cash Cards / SBI Buddy Wallet. You can also download e-challan and make the payment in any branch of Syndicate Bank, Canara Bank or ICICI Bank. Note that application fee once paid is not refundable in any scenario. JEE Main 2020 Application Form Correction

An incorrect application forms may get rejected by the national testing agency. Therefore, it is advised to the candidates to use the JEE Main Application form Correction facility to ensure the credibility of the form submitted by the candidates. NTA will be offering JEE Main Application form Correction period to edit the incorrect or false details. It will be one-time provision to make corrections in JEE Main 2020 application form. After the due date, the NTA will not consider the request made for correction under any circumstances. For JEE Main January 2020 session, the expected time period for making JEE Main Application form corrections can be in the second week to the third week of October 2019. However, official notification will be coming out soon. Using the application form correction facility, the candidates can correct their details in the application form, except the change in examination city. If applicable, students may need to pay an additional fee for making the corrections in the Application Form.

Steps to Make JEE Main Form Application Correction

To make the edits in your application form, you can visit the JEE Mains Application form Correction portal and log in using your personal credential i.e. your application number and password.
  • Visit the JEE Main Official Website: https://jeemain[dot]nic[dot]in/
  • Click on the ‘Application Form Particulars Correction’ section.
  • Enter your credentials including your application Number, password and security pin to do the correction.
  • Edit the information that needs correction.
  • Submit the application form by paying the additional fee if required.

Of the chance, you have submitted the more than one JEE Mains 2020 Application Form then you must send an email to jeemain@nic[dot]in, indicating your application and form number that have you submitted.

Note:

The JEE Mains Application form Correction facility will open to only those students who had filled the application form in all aspects and paid the JEE Main 2020 application fee.

JEE Main 2020 Eligibility Criteria

It is important for candidates to understand the eligibility criteria before filling the application form, to avoid any kind of last-minute chaos. The eligibility criteria for JEE Main 2020 is as follows:
  1. Age Limit: There is no age limit for the candidates for appearing in the JEE Main examination.
  2. Year of Passing Qualifying Examination: You are eligible to appear in JEE Main 2020, if you have passed class 12th or equivalent exam in 2018, 2019 or appearing in 2020.
  3. Subjects in Qualifying Examination: Candidates having the subjects Physics and Mathematics along with either Chemistry or Biology or Biotechnology are eligible for Paper 1 of JEE Main 2020. For Paper 2, Mathematics is a mandatory subject. Students must have 5 subjects in their class 12 board examination. Also, you must have secured 75% aggregate (65% for SC/ST) in 5 subjectsor be in the top 20 percentile in the class 12 board examination conducted by the respective educational boards.
  4. Number of Attempts: Anyone can give the exam three times, but the attempts should be in consecutive years. Appearing for both the sessions i.e. January and April; in the same year will be counted as a single attempt.

JEE Main 2020 Admit Card

After filling the application form NTA will be releasing the JEE Main 2020 admit card a month before the examination. If you have applied for JEE Main 2020 Examination, then you can visit the official website of JEE Main to download your admit card. Your JEE Main Admit Card is the most important identity document that you must carry with yourself for the examination. Other important documents that you need to carry along are one passport size photograph and a valid photo ID proof.  Candidates can download the admit card by logging into jeemain.nic.in. The steps to download JEE Main admit card 2020 is given as under:
  1. Go to the official website and log in using your credentials.
  2. Now enter your application number, password/date of birth and click on the submit option.
  3. The download link for JEE Main 2020 admit card will get displayed on your computer or mobile screen.
  4. Click on the link to download JEE Main 2020 admit card.
  5. Take Printout of your JEE Main 2020 admit card in advance and keep it safely in your home.
Your JEE Main 2020 Admit Card should be carrying all your personal credentials including your candidates name, roll number, application number, father's name, course name, date of birth, gender, category, state of eligibility, candidate's photograph, test city and centre code, date, shift and timing of examination, reporting time, gate closing time of centre, photograph, candidate's and parent's signature. Importance of JEE Main 2020 Admit Card after the exam

Your Admit card is your identity document. It is the most important document used to verify your personal credentials not just inside the examination hall, but also during JEE Main counseling and college admissions. Therefore, you must keep it safe all through the admission process. 

JEE Main 2020 Exam Centers

NTA will be conducting the JEE Main 2020 in two sessions i.e. January and April. You need to fill separate application forms for both the sessions; consequently, your choices of exam centers have to be filled twice too. Listed below are some essential details regarding JEE Main 2020 Exam Centers:
  1. You can list up to 4 preferences in the exam center category.
  2. You will be allotted one of the four choices preferred by them as their exam center.
  3. NTA will not entertain any requests for changing the exam center, once the application form is submitted.
  4. Important details including the exam center address, date of the examination and slot of examination will be mentioned in the admit card.
  5. You must visit the allocated exam center once prior an hour before the exam time in order to avoid any last minute chaos.

JEE Main Preparation Tips 2020

Know Your Syllabus: It is very important to know the syllabus of the examination and subsequent weightage of the chapter in the examination.  There are certain chapters from each subject on which you must give some extra attention. Make sure you cover them without compromise before the JEE Main 2020. Take a look at JEE Main subject wise important chapters:
  1. Mathematics: Integration, Vector and 3D, Coordinate Geometry, Permutation and Combination, probability, Trigonometry.
  2. Physics: Oscillations and Waves, Current Electricity Electrostatics, Atoms and Nuclei.

Don’t be Too Dependent on Coaching: Self-study is very important when it comes to preparing for JEE Main examination. Soon after the result NTA will be releasing the state-wise and category wise JEE Main cut-off for session 2020. It will also release the merit list based on the cut off. There are various factors based on which cut-off is decided including  the difficulty level of the exam, number of appeared students, category of the candidate.

JEE Main 2020 Result

NTA will be releasing the result of JEE Main 2020 separately for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. Students can easily download result from nta.ac.in. NTA will be taking into consideration percentile up to 7 decimals points in order to avoid ties between the candidates. Further ties, if any, can be resolved using below mentioned criteria:

JEE Main 2020 Counselling

After the declaration of result and merit list, the JEE Main 2020 Counselling process will begin. There will be three different counselling procedures for 15% all India JEE Main seats:
  1. JoSAA counselling is done for seat allotment of all IIITs, NITs and Other Government Funded Technical Institutes. It also takes care of IIT seat allotment procedure following JEE Advanced examination.
  2. CSAB NEUT takes care of counselling for seats of AICTE approved institutes. These institutes are not covered under CSAB for the North Eastern States & Union Territories (NEUT).
  3. CSAB SFTI manages the counselling procedure for Self-Funded Technical Institutes.
